Growing up with my dad, movies have been a huge aspect of my upbringing. I was exposed as a very young age Classic Cinema, Movie Musicals, and Disney Classics, just to name a few.
As a child, I was always be watching a movie. I was obsessed with going to Blockbusters and I would be in there for at least an hour because I could not decide on what movie to rent. I also would go to the public library and rent so many DVDs. (There were a few books somewhere I’m sure.)
My DVD and VHS collection growing up was outrageous. I had over 200 DVDs at one point in time. I grew very attached to each of them and would become so upset if I had to give away any to make my collection smaller.
When Netflix came out, I knew I had to create an account. The amount of options that are there is amazing and there’s something there for everyone.
I am currently a Communication major at the University of Tampa. Many of my classes are film studies concentrated. I love that I am able to attend a university where I have the ability to be around people who also loves films, but also be exposed to films that I would not watch on my own, and enjoying them.
Film genres I typically go for are Movie Musicals or Bio Pics, but will watch anything. I do not have just one favorite film, there’s so many to choose from. Here is my Top 5 favorite films in no particular order:
- The Wizard of Oz (Victor Fleming, 1939)
- Dead Poets Society (Peter Weir, 1989)
- Mean Girls (Mark Waters, 2004)
- The Little Mermaid (Ron Clements & John Musker, 1989)
- Annie (Rob Marshall, 1999)
I am aways eager to watch new film and try a new genre or topic! If you have a movie that you think I will enjoy, comment below the title! I also hope by some of my reviews I can get you to watch a new film!
